Race for The Bed

Wow, Linda is already home from her 5k race in DC. Carol (wearing the white jacket) did great this year, she actually made it over 1 1/2 miles!! Using the rolling walker (that had a little seat if she needed to sit down) really helped. Even though she wears a yellow "survivor" shirt, people who run and walk sometimes are so focused on their times, they forget that one of the reasons for the race is to honor those who survived brain tumors. In past years she has been almost pushed down and jostled about. Linda jogged slow and did not worry about her time. She purposefully left her mile/time split watch home because in past years it's made her run faster than she should. For awhile, she did stay with a group of Marines who ran in formation, singing the whole time! It was fun. Later when she was slowing down, a man in a wheelchair zoomed past her and she picked up the pace a little. There were lots of dogs, but none as little as me. I would so get stepped on by one of the 22,000 participants. The only time I race anywhere is when Linda says "big bed" then I race into her room to get up on her comfy bed. All in all, it was an emotional but fun morning for her.
