A Sad Story

I've been holding off on this post because it was so upsetting to Linda, that I did not want to stir up sad feelings in her. Tuesday was the absolute worst day of her sickness. She felt so horrible and knew she had all those classes to teach since subs did not come through for 4 of the 5 classes. In all her years of teaching, it was honestly the hardest thing she ever had to do. Here's what happened: You all know how Chimmie can chew things, right? He is great about not chewing shoes or clothes in the laundry, but he has chewed parts of the floor molding and even two holes in the carpet. Linda corrected him sternly and he has not done it again. No big deal since it's only stuff. Even Chip destroyed the back of a very expensive chair in the living room when she was younger by scratching on it. Again, she gave Chip a strong lesson and was like "Whatever, it's just stuff that does not matter in the big picture of life." Chimmie chewed a hole in the deck, no biggie. He loves to chew things in the backyard like branches and leaves. Linda can't stop him from doing that since he's alone out there a lot of the time. Well on Tuesday, she walked down the hall and saw her favorite plant was chewed to nothing, spread out all over the floor. Since a $1,000 chair being ruined did not bother her, a $25 plant should be just an annoyance. Wrong. She crumbled to the floor and just sobbed. (oh no, she is crying again.) It was a plant she had gotten as a gift over 15 years ago at her Dads funeral. She loved that plant so much and took the best of care of it. At times, it looked like it wasn't going to live. She kept nursing it back to health and it was just thriving. Every time she looked at it, it reminded her of the amazing relationship she had with her Dad. She was an only child and definitely a Daddy's girl. This is whats left of the plant. The empty space in the pot is where he took out the entire roots. There is still one stem left. She gave it some Miracle Grow and set it out in the sun praying some new shoots will start. If there was a fire in the house, she would have first grabbed all the pets and second, that plant. It was about 3 feet tall and the stems grew together like vines. The leaves were long and oval with a point at the tip. Can anyone tell her what kind it was based on what is left of the plant?
