When you weigh 4 1/2 pounds like I do, being 1 pound overweight is considered obese. I need to lose 25% of my body weight to be slim and healthy. Seems like I'm not the only one overweight. For the 5th year in a row, Mississippi has the highest percent of obesity at 32.5% of the residents. Alabama is right "behind" Mississippi. Obesity rose in 23 of our states this year with no states showing a significant "reduction". Mississippi has the highest rates of obesity in kids... 44% of all the kids are over-fat. It makes Linda so sad that those kids are so overweight. What is going on that the parents and kids are consistently the fattest in the nation? Is it fried food? Lack of exercise? Too much fast food? Does anyone know? Maybe Linda and Tierney will have to take their nutrition program down to Mississippi.
