The Dog We Need

This afternoon in her kids TKD class, Linda talked with the kids about things they are working on to live out the tenets of TKD at home. Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control, and other things they do in class like being patient and kind with each other. Each one had to tell what was hardest for them to do. (#1 was yelling and arguing with their siblings and ignoring their parents directions.) When it was her turn to share, she told the kids that she is trying to be patient with Chimmie and his hyperactive craziness. After all, if she can control 24 kids, age 5-12 in a TKD class and make them obey her instantly, why can't she control one 12 pound Chihuahua?? Her patience has been tested all evening. She finally put him out on the deck and shut the door because he won't stop jumping, crying, whining, running, throwing toys at her and doing his play biting. He even knocked me down the stairs, AGAIN! It's partially her fault because she did not walk us today and he is wound up. You don't always get the dog you want, but you get the dog you need. Chim is really helping Linda (and me!) work on our patience.
