I like that Linda has rules at home and when they are broken, we (Chimmie) are disciplined and we (Chimmie) suffers the consequences. He chewed the carpet now he's not allowed in the house when Linda is gone. He eats my food, so Linda separates us when we eat. He wiggles too much at night so he can't sleep in the big bed like I do. This could be another one of those news stories that is a sham. I kind of hope it's not. I'm not endorsing throwing sixth graders in jail, but I really do think that kids who are belligerent, disobedient and obnoxious at school need to straighten up. A sixth grade boy in Indiana was arrested after spilling his milk in the school cafeteria and refusing to clean it up. Police were called after he became rude and agitated with the staff when he was told to mop it up. He said it was stupid and he wasn't cleaning it up then tried to leave. A school officer made him sit and wait for the principle, but he started running around the cafeteria and out into the hall. The officer tackled him, handcuffed him and took him to the station where his Dad had to come and get him. Maybe you're thinking it too much crying over spilt milk, but by taking action like this, it might keep a future hoodlum off the street. Or not.
