Say your swimming at the beach and the guy next to you gets his toe bit off by a piranha. What should you do? Well, first help the guy out of the water, call for help and then go back in the water to swim, right? Well, that's what 99 people did at a beach in Brazil. The piranhas were biting peoples toes and heels off! Um... do you think maybe you should stay out of the water? Since the piranhas have no predators, their population has exploded and now they are hungry. All their regular food is gone, so they are eating people. The authorities are adding tilapia (a fish that the piranhas must think taste better then nasty feet) into the water to encourage them to leave the swimmers alone.
One environmentalist say the piranhas are not mean fish. People are stepping on their nests and crushing their babies, that is why they are being aggressive.
