Waste of Bacon

Virginia road crews were busy this morning on Route 13.  At 4:00 a.m., a tractor trailer jackknifed and lost its load across the road.  The driver walked away from the crash, but the 41,000 pounds of frozen pig he was carrying spilled unto the roadway.  Linda was wondering how many pigs 41,000 pounds equal.  According to Wiki Answers, an average market hog is 250 pounds.  That would be 164 pigs.  Then, she was thinking how much bacon comes from each pig.  Only the belly parts are used for bacon, so the average is 34.5 pounds of bacon or 340 strips.  If you multiply that by 164 pigs, that was a loss of 55,760 slices of bacon!  (You may wonder why Linda, a vegetarian would even care about any of this. I don't know, she just likes numbers and was curious.)
