In the car on the way to his forever home. Look how my back is turned to him! |
Today is the one year anniversary that Chimmie came to live with us. (You can read all about it on "The Story of Chimmie") It seems like he has been in my life forever, and not just 1 year. Looking back at my quite, relaxing life before Chimmie, I do miss the peacefulness. But he has brought so much laughter and joy to Linda that his sweetness outweighs the craziness. He's come really far in his neurotic behaviours. At first, he wouldn't walk on a leash at all. He's plunk down and cry. When he even saw the harness, he would start hyperventilating. Now, hes a walking champ! He hated other dogs. If he saw one across the street, he'd roll over and cry or start to tug Linda back home. Now, he is Mr. Social with other dogs. He has not had an accident on the carpet in at least 6 months. I'm Miss Picky when it comes to my food, he'll eat literally anything Linda puts in his bowl (or what he finds in the litter box!) He has not chewed a shoe in months (since the brown sandal fiasco) and he's left the carpet threads alone too. Even his jumping up to greet people is better. He still needs to work on destroying his toys and bed, but overall.... he is 100x better than he used to be. Chim still needs to work on obeying when he isn't supervised so he can be free of the bathroom when Linda is gone. His nails are longer than they should be. He still needs constant love and pets. But by his two year anniversary, he should be totally Snicker-tified!
