Hello? Anyone Home? |
I had to wake Linda up really early to go outside again. It was pitch dark and a little scary. I'm not sure why, but there are 1 or 2 nights a week I can't wait until morning. She knows its an emergency by the way I run down the deck steps so fast. Usually, I take my time sniffing out the deck to be sure no wild animals came up during the night before I slowly go down into the yard. A big fox or raccoon could eat me up if it were in our yard. We've had an opossum (that is the weirdest word ever) family take up residence before. The mom used to come up and see if there were any cookies on the deck. It's been a long time ago, but I blogged about when the fawn got trapped in our backyard. Linda even got a photo of it. We have a 6' tall fence it hopped over. Linda and Tierney left breadcrumbs as a pathway to the open gate trying to get it to leave. Poor thing was so scared, but I think I was even more scared than the deer was. It eventually left the way it came in, by jumping the fence. Of course you all know about our recent chipmunk family move in, but they couldn't hurt me so I don't worry about that smell. I hope that mountain lion roaming around Northern Virginia does not decide to visit us. Dealing with 13 pound Chip cat is all I can handle. A cat weighing 10x that would give me a heart attack just looking at it.
