Candy PSA

For all my older readers out there (older meaning over 40, which Linda says is NOT old at all) here is a new FDA warning.  Eating just 2 oz. of black licorice a day for only two weeks can lead to heart arrhythmia and land you in the emergency room.  (Mr. Lou, you better not eat ANY black licorice!) There is something in the candy which causes your body to lose potassium.  Losing potassium makes you retain water, swell, get an abnormal heart beat and higher blood pressure... all of which lead to heart failure.  While researching this story, I stumbled upon an article about the horrible conditions children age 9-12 are working in harvesting chocolate beans on plantations overseas.  The story encouraged you to buy "slave free chocolate (or fair trade).  Linda made me stop because things like that make her mad and pretty soon she won't be eating anymore of her favorite flavors of  M & M's.  Here are 8 new flavors available only online she needs to try:
  • All That Razz: Creamy white chocolate center surrounded by milk chocolate and a raspberry-flavored candy shell.
  • Eat, Drink & Be Cherry: Creamy white chocolate center surrounded by milk chocolate and a black cherry-flavored candy shell.
  • A Day At The Peach: Creamy white chocolate center surrounded by milk chocolate and a peach-flavored candy shell.
  • Orange-U-Glad: Creamy white chocolate center surrounded by milk chocolate and an orange-flavored candy shell.
  • AlmonDee-Licious: Almond surrounded by creamy white chocolate and a candy shell.
  • Mint Condition: Creamy white chocolate center surrounded by milk chocolate and a mint-flavored candy shell.
  • Nut What You Think: Peanut surrounded by creamy white chocolate and a candy shell
  • Cookie Mintster: Crispy center surrounded by dark chocolate and a mint-flavored speckled candy shell.
