Or in regular non-athlete terms: Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. Yep, that is exactly what Linda is suffering with today. She was so happy that she wasn't too achy yesterday from her Les Mills Quarterly workshop. Sure, she was tired and it felt good to sit down... and there was a tiny bit of fatigue/soreness in her legs. But today.... OH NO! When she got to the gym this morning, she has to go up three flights of stairs to the aerobic room. (There is an elevator, but who would take an elevator to go workout in a gym?) By the second landing, her legs were burning, by the top.. there was fire. Her class this morning: Body Pump, one of the same classes that trashed her legs on Saturday. About 1/2 way through the 2nd tract; squats.. her muscles started failing. Because she is so stubborn, Linda finished the sets and continued to go heavy with her bar for the remaining 8 songs. Taylor would tell her to take an ice-bath, but she is actually going to take a hot bath with Epsom salts, then ice her quads while she reads. If she feels better, she'll take us for a walk before her next two classes. Oh, and she has snack bar duty tonight at the basketball game! She'll have to stand for an hour passing out goodies to all the hungry fans. It will be fun though because her partner is Sarah! If Sarah can stand there with a pregnant belly, Linda can stand there with tired legs.
