I'm Coming to Eat YOU! |

The Lion Tamer |

You could fit A LOT of presents under this tree |
If you have time between now and the end of the year, you should really pack the family up and head to The National Harbor for dinner and to see the Christmas display at the Gaylord. Linda's group only did 10% of the activities and still had a fantastic time. If you wanted to go all out and spend some big $$, it would feel like a day-trip to Disney. For those where price is not an object, Ice! is a sculpture garden of Dreamworks characters made entirely of ...well 2 million pounds of ice. It's kept at 9 degrees, so Linda is glad they did not walk through the exhibit. For free, you can walk around the Gaylord lobby and just wonder at all the magical decorations. A 65-foot tall Christmas tree is made of make-believe “candy” glass and weighs 7,000 pounds...and it's hanging from the ceiling (Tier would be calculating where NOT to stand the entire time!) Tier would have also liked the indoor snowfall that happens inside the 72 degree atrium since she thinks snow is pretty but hates being cold. Their group decorated an entire gingerbread family in this Hansel and Gretel type forest. Great photo ops with Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, a Lion and Lemur and the creepy Gingy. (Tier would have definitely been scared of the cookie. She does not like clowns and this cookie really reminded Linda of something in a horror movie that chases you with a bloody cleaver. One of the 5 year old girls in her group HATES people in costumes, but she liked Gingy, so go figure.) If you really want to go all out, a package deal includes a night at the hotel with wake-up visit from one of the characters (imagine waking up with Shrek in your face?) a scavenger hunt, dinner with all the characters and much more. (Linda said she should at least get free tickets since she did such a good job promoting the exhibit!)
