"But it was an accident..."

Linda would chop her leg off  getting in and out of this car.
Linda has had a few fender bender type of accidents in her old Subaru.  One time an older women ran a stop sign in a shopping center parking lot and hit her.  Another time a diplomat from a foreign country rear ended her.  Both women said it wasn't their fault.  The stop sign person said no one was coming so she didn't have to stop and the second women said "it wasn't her fault, it was an accident."  Linda patiently explained to her most car crashes are "accidents" and in our country people don't go around hitting each other with their cars on purpose.  These were annoyances to Linda, no one was hurt and her car was fixed by the other persons insurance company. In fact, the insurance people of the diplomat kept offering her money not to sue them.  She told them she had no plans on suing anyone, she just wanted her car fixed... but they would not stop!  Eventually she told them she would take $200 because she did miss teaching some classes trying to get the car fixed.  They were so happy and made her sign a paper that Linda would never sue them in the future.  Yesterday, a car crash in Japan involving eight Ferraris, a Lamborghini and two Mercedes likely worth more than $1 million together by the time the damages are all totaled up!  All the cars were on a Sunday drive outing together.  One of the Ferraris changed lanes, hit the median barrier and spun around colliding with the other cars.  You should look at the photos for your self on http://www.msnbc.msn.com/.  Unbelievably, no one was injured but the cars look like they were put into a meat grinder.
