Guard Dogs

The last few nights, we've all been a bit jumpy in our house.  The night before last, Linda was reading in bed.  Chim was dozing on her legs.  At the exact same time, they both heard the front door handle turning.  Chim did a deep growl and Linda jumped out of bed to grab her weapons.  First she turned on all the lights (and the outside lights) because she's watched enough scary movies to know you don't go looking for the intruder in the dark.  By this time, Chim was barking up a storm.  After a complete search, there wasn't anyone in the house (As Tier will tell you, don't forget to search behind the shower curtains and in closets) nor out front.  Linda had locked the deadbolt, but forgot to lock the actually doorknob!  That's what they heard rattling. Linda didn't call the police since it seemed lame to say "Help, I think someone just turned my doorknob!"

Last night around 8:30 she took us for our last walk before bed.  It was chilly, but a beautiful night.  On the way back home, something hit her square in the upper back!  She didn't scream, but she immediately turned and got into combat stance. (Another maneuver Tier knows.)  There wasn't anyone around.  She felt crunching under her shoes and realized she was under an acorn type tree.  It was just something falling out of the branches.  That was enough nighttime walking for her.  We jogged home and as she opened the front door, there were deep voices coming from the back of the house!  Her heart stopped a bit until she heard music. Since bad guys don't normally rob your house with music in the background, she knew what it was.  Before she left, she paused a TV show on her laptop (she was watching Alias) but it had started back up while she was gone.

Having two dogs in the family is just the right amount.  We keep Linda perfect company and don't really require much work.  She would love to get a bigger Snickers type dog again.  Walking in the dark with a Chihuahua and a Chorkie isn't the same as when she walked with German Shep/Dobie mix and a full Siberian Husky at her side (with demon eyes.)  Linda isn't worried really. She knows she's protected round-about by angels.  Sometimes scary things happen (real or imagined.)  You can't let it disrupt your peace and calmness.

Snickers was almost as big as Linda!

Not many people would mess with this. Scary Dog Sheeba
