Food for Thought

Crocheted T-Bone Steak Dinner
Even though Linda does not eat any kind of meat, she does not push her conviction or try to convince others to do the same.  In fact, just this weekend she served chicken to 25 of her friends when they came to her house.  Both Tier and Taylor grew up eating meat (since Linda never tasted what she cooked, she's not sure how good it was) and they still love it to this day.  Studies of meat vrs no meat in your diet continue to vary, but a new Harvard study in the Archives of Internal Medicine found that eating red meat — any amount and any type — appears to significantly increase the risk of premature death, according to a long-range study that examined the eating habits and health of more than 110,000 adults for more than 20 years. Just a small 3-ounce serving of steak every day was linked with a 13% greater risk of dying during the study.  Worse than that, adding a few slices of lunch meat, a hot dog or two slices of bacon increased it to 20%.  I'm sure all my meat-eating readers will find other studies countering this one and continue to enjoy their steak.  I hope Linda does not decided to try and make us eat vegetarian again like she did a few years ago.  (It only lasted 1 day since we refused to eat the food!)
