Flooding
This has been the worst flooding in our county that Linda can ever remember. This is a parking lot from the next town over, the one that we sometimes go to walk around the Town Center. It's not raining right at the moment, and Linda is itching to go to the trail and see the creeks. Honestly, there probably isn't even a trail right now since it runs along the stream the entire way. There has been three deaths in our area from people being swept away in a flash flood, so maybe it would not be wisdom to go exploring right now. Instead, we are just going to walk to the trail head and look at it without going down into the woods. (She better not get brave and attempt anymore! I will refuse to walk to keep us safe.) We are so thankful that our basement is dry, other friends are not so fortunate. Some major highways were closed and the 20 minute commute home from work took some folks 6 hours. Linda left 1 1/2 hours early for her class yesterday afternoon, but it ended up only taking 15 minutes. The roads were empty since everyone either left work early or stayed home. She only hit one part of the road that was flooded, but not too deep. Twelve people showed up for class too! More rain is predicted for today. Earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, tropical storms... what could possibly be next? UPDATE: Before this post was finished, it started pouring. Guess she wasn't supposed to take that walk after all.
