The Tate's saved Mable the Chicken from becoming Kentucky Fried and adopted her as their pet. They never noticed her strong mothering instinct until their dog Nettle gave birth to a litter of puppies. As soon as Nettle left the pup's, Mable jumped in the basket and covered the puppies to keep them warm. Nettle was fine with the new nanny and Mable has taken her job very seriously.
