Polar Bear Swim
What a fun afternoon I've had! Linda took me to a Polar Bear Swim. At first I thought we were going to the zoo to watch the polar bears. Instead, we went to a local lake near our house. It was a charity event where people raise money then jump in the lake. One slight problem. The lake was covered with 5 inches of ice! Fire and rescue men got on top of the ice with special tools and a special suit to smash through the ice. It was unbelievable. Linda's friend Annette was one of the swimmers. She is from Finland and has done it many times in her country. Other people panicked when they hit the water and had to be rescued. It was such fun to watch. Annette wants Linda to do it next year with her. Problem is, Linda won't even get in a pool in 85 degree weather because she gets too cold.
