Gene "Choopie" Simmons

Gotta be a record!

Tator Tots x Five

I love me some Taylor and Sarah. (When Tierney was little, she used to call him Tator instead of Taylor.) They don't live here, but when they come over to visit, Taylor still does the flying airplane game with me.
This is their engagement picture, aren't they adorable? I sleep on his old bed sometimes, but it's Snickers 'hood and Snickster is territorial. It's been a rainy boring Monday. Linda teaches a lot of classes today, so I am just chillin' waiting for someone to play with me. Someday there will be little Tator's for me to play with. He wants to have 5 tots, all boys so they can be a basketball team. Sarah says no.

Panic Attack

Today wasn't fun at all. I'm home now, but my outing with Linda scared me so much that I shed all my fur in a pile on Linda's sweater. She took me to the Super Pet Expo. At first I was excited, but when I realized there were a least 1,000 dogs and 2,000 owners all milling around, it was way overwhelming. I just had to get out of there. Linda took me right home and I crashed for a long nap. I am bummed that I did not get to watch the Doggie Fashion Show or see the world's ugliest dog. At least I got to come home and see the world's ugliest cat. (Ha-Ha)

The Queen of Sheba

Before I cam to live here, Snickers had another girlfriend. It was a shock finding out, but I forgive him since he didn't even know I existed. Sheba was a pure bred Siberian Husky. She got sick and died. Poor Snickers was very sad and lonely until I came along and made his life so much more wonderful.

Can you believe this? I thought I was the only dog with a blog. Turns out there is another Yorkie-Terrier dog named Ronnie who has his own blog. Ronnie thinks he is a cat (I can't even imagine the horror of that!) Maybe instead of getting mad, we should hook up and link each other's pages.

I am going on an outing with Linda tomorrow. I don't know where, but I could tell something was up because she got the doggie carrier-purse out of the closet. Hope it's somewhere fun. I'll bring the camera to post photos of our adventure.

Oh, the Humiliation

It is almost even too embarrassing to write about. It might help me to get over the stress of what I had to go through tonight. Linda was late getting home tonight. While she was gone, I had a bathroom issue. I made it to the pee-pee pad, but "things" were a little slow moving and sticky if you get my drift. Never mind the details, just suffice to say that my belly, tail and legs were quite the mess. She had to clean me up and bathe me. Good thing I was gated in the kitchen. At least Snickers and Chip were not privy to the humiliation. Linda had just cleaned the whole kitchen this afternoon and she had to do the floor again tonight. Oh well, I know she loves me, stinky and all.

Who's Your Daddy?

There is a new DNA at home test to determine who's the daddy. No more drama, no more Maury
P. guests running off the stage and banging their head on the wall. Why am I interested you may ask? I have absolutely no idea. It's a slow news day and I've already chewed the eyes off my new owly toy, gnawed the hood string off Linda's sweatshirt and bothered Snick's so much he nipped at me to chase me off. I'll write more later.

Round, Round, Get Around, I Get Around.......

My regular readers know about Snickers broken down joints. He is very old and has a hard time walking in the morning. My little heart was all aflutter when I came across this story. "Eddie's Wheels For Pets" helps handicap animals get around when parts start to wear out. Check out this photo of one of the many dogs who have benefited from the custom made wheelchairs. They even keep tiny wheels on hand for gerbils or hamsters. If Snick's ever needs his own wheel's, I"m going to have a yard sale and sell all my toys to raise money so he can get one. I'll even include my two best monkeys and tell Linda not to buy me any more treats so the money can go towards a "Snickers Scooter."

Boodah-Boodie-Buddha

Here is a story you don't read everyday. There is a Chihuahua who is my age named Conan who lives in Japan at a Zen Buddhist temple. During prayer time, he sits up on his hind legs and puts his front paws together to pray before the alter. Wonder what he is praying for? Maybe more Milk Bones or squeaky toys. Linda has always called me "Boodah, Boodah, Boo"...do you think that is because I'm reincarnated from a Zen Chihuahua? Check out his photo at MSNBC. (I'm way cuter then he is.) Chip is cranky today. She has been hissin-n-spittin at me for no reason at all. She must have read the article about the vet dentist who makes false teeth for cats who don't keep up on their oral hygiene. Personally, I've never seen her brush once. She'll be hating life if she has to get false choppers.

Couch Potatoe No More

Oh My Monkey, Tierney has another article in a magazine. This time it's a new health and fitness
mag called Body & Life. Her new easy 3-step plan is the "Eat Less Crap & Get Off the Couch" diet.
It is very funny and informative, but why didn't she use me as her model? I'm so slim, trim and the perfect poster pup for healthy living. I'll post a photo of the 2 page color spread tomorrow.

ANTC

Sometimes I just can't get over how cute I am. I was born to be on the cover of Dog Fancy or even doing ads for Mighty Dog. Instead of America's Next Top Model, a good show would be America's Next Top Canine. I Better start looking for an agent. Tonight I met Linda's friend Paul. She's known him for over 20 years, way back when she was 5 years old. At first I was nervous and kept my ears down, but pretty soon we were tussling on the couch with The Screaming Monkey. Snickers was not happy someone new was in the house so he barked his head off. The old boy should know by now that I got his back and would not let anyone hurt him.

Here Comes Choopie Cotton Tail

Hopping down the Bunny trail.... Well, maybe not the trail, but certainly the hallway. I got a new toy for Easter, its kind of bouncy ball shaped like a dog bone, but it squeaks. I'm pretty tuckered out from playing with it. Snickers got to hop on the bunny trail today, but Linda thinks I don't know. Excuse me, does she think I can't detect all the trail smells on him? I forgive her since he did not get a new toy and I did. Here's a new photo of the family today at church. They are all going out for Easter dinner tonight. I hope there are some good leftovers. Happy Easter to You!

What the Heck?

I'm not exactly sure what is going on at the National Zoo, but maybe I'm missing out on something big. These equines must know something I don't. I'll get Linda to explain it to me since these photos were on her camera. Maybe the little one on the bottom was trying to escape out that fence. Snickers tries to keep me away from getting out our gate sometimes. The other picture is totally whack.

No more Pepto for Pups for me, I'm feeling frisky. After a whole can of Little Ceaser, I got my strength back and am once again ruling the roost. Tonight Linda and Tierney went to a wedding and later on (at 10:45 p.m.!) Taylor is playing football, so they will be gone again. This is a photo of me earlier on when I was sick. Don't you feel sorry for me?

Pepto for Pups?

I have been throwing up all day. I'm not sure what is wrong with my tummy. Linda is keeping me cuddled and quite in the blanket. She even put it in the dryer and got it all warm and toasty for me. If I feel better, I'll blog more later.

Tierney's Famous

I know, I know... It seems like I am always bragging on the Teer-Beer, but she really deserves it this time. She wrote an article for a magazine about starting a new or changing careers. Not only did they accept it, she has the cover story. Yesterday, she was a guest at a giant career fair. BIG companies like U.S. Department of Security; Environmental Protection Agency; IRS; Department of Defense; Lockheed Martin; Oracle; and Northrop Grumman were just a few of the hundreds of companies represented and endorsing the mag. She was the Marketing Director for the magazine at the Career Fair. Someday she will be on the best seller list, or maybe Oprah's list. Even Snickers couldn't resist reading the story.

No-Eyed Monkey

Not on purpose, but today I chewed off the eyes on my flying screaming monkey. If it weren't for Tierney intervention, I would have choked for sure. I guess I got a little over zealous. It screamed and screamed but I killed it good. Now I am squeaking the pink bone and putting it on Tierney's face. Ooops, it dropped. I'm hungry now. Wait, no, I'm bored. Maybe I forgot my ADHD medicine this morning.

Pass the Tofurkey

I did not know this, but vegetarian diets are perfectly fine for us pooches. We only need 10% of our calories from protein. Do you know what that means? I can become a vegetarian just like Linda. She is actually a vegan, but I don't want to be that radical. I do love me some cheese. Fiber is also important for me, so I need to keep up the Puffins cereal nuggets and veggies I've been snacking on. I am seriously thinking about giving up the Little Caesar and the Mighty Dog as my main meals. Next time Linda makes pesto couscous or tofu stir fry, I am going to do the cute "Choopie Charleston" and she'll give me some. Today is St. Patrick's Day which means absolutely nothing to me.

My Aficionado

Here's my peep Tierney and Choopster "hanging" around in our kitchen. I know it looks like she is about to drop me, but I was safe as can be. She is devoted to me, and can you blame her? I am so lovable that I even get excited just when ever I hear my name. She is going out with her friends tonight and Linda is going out with her friends, so I guess its a quite night for me. I'll microwave some popcorn and see whats on Sci-Fi. Maybe it's Frankenfish, which is the absolute best movie ever!

Whistle While You Work, part 2

I must be dreaming, but today Tierney cleaned her entire room. I wish I had fingers so I could have taken a digital before and after photo to post. Let's just say that I'm not even sure what color the carpet was until today. She sorted, folded, hung all her clothes. There were trash bags and many thrift store bags. Linda even helped her bring two dressers upstairs so she could be more organized. Between "Ms. Clean" Linda scrubbing the whole house today and Tierney doing her room, there was so much action that Snickers and I were all but forgotten. In other news, Snickers has been so on edge lately. Every time a car door shuts or there is a sound outside, he goes running up the stairs barking and barking. He almost had a heart attack barking at Tierney when she came home late the other night. What a good watch dog, but he really needs to chill.

Me Llamo Chalupa

Whoo! Ah mi cielos!! (I'm pooped!) Can you say tacos, cheese, chips, lettuce, olives, salsa....? Tonight we had a big partido mejicano complete with Strawberry and Lime margaritas (no booze, or course). Taco meat is right up there with the chicken I've been eating. Honestly, I am getting a little chubby. Everyone just left and Linda finished cleaning the kitchen. I'm really tired and can't write too much tonight. Here are a few photos of the party, and one of me crashed from too much fun.

(under) Cover Story

Now I know where I inherited my way with words. Tierney submitted an article to a magazine and not only did they accept it, she has the cover story! I'm so proud of her, maybe someday I'll let her be a guest on my blog. She is so pretty, smart and nice (It's easy to tell we are in the same family!) Right now my new way of sleeping is to tuck myself under the blankets and snuggle up in Linda's armpit. Look, It's a Bird, It's a Plane, it's Under 'da Cover Choopie! It sounds like a good name for a superhero. Move over Under Dog, theres a new pup in town!

Snicker-Poo"dle"

In Australia, 10 breeds of dogs are now automatically declared dangerous, without a trial. It won't be long before the US of A jumps on the gravy-train with them. Two of the dangerous dogs they have identified are Dobermans & German Shepards. That's my Snickers!! Oh no! Not to worry though, a company is developing Ultra Disguise Kits for Dogs, part of their Invisible Breeds products line. The dandy Ultra Poodle Disguise Kit for Dobermans is just what I need to order for him. The kit includes:

--fake fur pieces (four ankle pieces, one body piece, head piece and tail attachment)
-- Safe suit fitting method statement and instructions.
-- High Quality duct tape
-- Under harness
-- Black face paint (safe for dogs)

This way we can go for our walks without the fear of the DDP (dangerous dog patrol) coming along and arresting Snickers. Look at that face, do you think he looks like he'd bite your head off?

Chicken Little

I am in love with chicken. Chicken, Chicken, Chicken. Since I was being a little pickier then I normally am about eating, Linda went to the store and came back with a big featherless bird. She roasted it in the oven on Sunday and the smell made me crazy. Then she stood at the counter and pulled off all the meat... (I was flipping out) and put it in the whirrly-blender to make it like Choopie food. Every time she feeds me, she mixes the CHICKEN in with my regular food. I am going to be so fat because I am jonesin' for it all the time. I can't wait until my next meal. My navy pea coat is not going to fit me this spring because I'll be too fat. Who cares? Snickers would love me even if I was Chubby Choopie. I want this chicken toy.

Family Time

Right now I am probably the most happiest I've been in a long time. I'm on the couch cuddling with Tierney and Linda. Snickers is at our feet and get this, I don't even care that Chip is sitting at the end of the couch with us. Whoo Hoo! I love my family. Linda even bought home a little treat for me tonight from her pot-luck party. I tried a small piece of pepperoni. It was strange, but I scarfed it right up. Tonight we lose an hour of sleep, so I better turn in now so I'm not too tired tomorrow to do all my exciting activities like taking the trash out, exploring the laundry, killing my screaming monkey toy and chasing Chip until she has a hissy-fit. I bet you wish you were me.

I Miss My Mommy

Linda has been very busy working and has not been home very much. I am doing a lot of sleeping tucked inside my pink and black bed in the kitchen. It's comfy, but I miss the snuggles and love rubs I was getting all the time. At least when she is home I am the center of her world. (Well, I share with Snickers and to some extent though I hate to admit it... Chip) Tierney is hardly ever here, just to take a bath at 11:00 p.m. and then sleep. Linda has been putting me in bed with Tier early in the morning when she leaves for work, and we cuddle until it's time for her to leave for school or the mall. Here is a picture of Mom and me when I be'little.

"I'll Get You My Pretty..And Your Little Dog Too"

I am very scared because we have a tornado warning for tonight. What if it's like Wizard of Oz and
I end up surrounded by munchkins with a wicked witch and flying monkeys chasing me? (I actually have my own flying monkey that howls when it flies.) I hope I'll be safe in my hole next to the bed. I'm sure Linda will protect me if things get wiggy.

Jerry dropped off a new toy for me and a bunch of my favorite food. I wasn't eating because I wanted the premium food I was used to, not the Mighty Dog that I've been getting lately. MD is fine for Snickers because he does not have the same distinguished pallet that I have. He never eats the cat poop, what the heck is wrong with him?

Whistle While You Work

Today, Linda cleaned and cleaned and made lots of trips to the trash bin. Taking the trash bags outside to the bin is on my top 5 list of things to do. I had such adventures exploring the boxes, old clothes and old papers she was piling up on the floor. I'm pretty tiny, its a good thing I did not get lost in the pile and put out to the curb! There was one close call. Chip was checking out what was happening in the back room where we were cleaning and I got a little excited. She swiped me across the face and hissed because I was barking at her. I about had a meltdown, but then Linda picked me up and kissed the boo-boo's all better. Someday Chip is going to be paid back for all her bad attitudes. Here is a poem I wrote:
Chip thinks that she is the queen
She tries to rule this house
I bet she would have a meltdown
If she ever saw a mouse!

Just because, this is a picture of Snickers nose and me chewing on my toy.

A Romp in the Yard... almost

Today while Linda was cleaning the deck, I scooted out the sliding door and ran down the deck stairs lickity-split. Linda still had her high heel boots on and I knew she could not get down the stairs fast enough to catch me. She called for Snickers to rescue me before I squeezed under the gate. He came running after me (pretty fast for an old dog!) and flipped me over on my back with his big nose. Yipp! It made me cry out. Then he kept nudging me in the direction of the steps.
Just like in the old show Lassie: "Woof Woof...What's the matter boy, is Timmy in the well?!" Drats, Snicks stopped me from discovering the world. I was almost free, but wait... why would I want to leave this warm house with food whenever I want and lots of love 24-7?

Taylor came over today. I've missed him since he married Sarah and moved out. I hope some day they have little hairless humans for me to play with.

Catnappers vrs Dognappers

I knew it! Dogs rule, Cats drool! As Virginia law stands now, stealing a cat is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in jail. Not surprisingly, Dognappers can get up to 10 years in jail. What is the punishment if you steal a ferret or a hamster? Time out?

In other news, a Las Vegas company is making "Chewy Vuition"; "Chewnel No. 5"; "Furcedes" and "Sniffany & Co." toys and collars. Wonder if they need a model? Can you imagine the free swag I would get if I was their barksperson?
