Today I Was the BIG Dog

What an afternoon! Linda had to work from 8-2:30 p.m. today, and she has to leave again at 6:00. She packed in 3 fun outings in just a few hours. First, we went out for a picnic lunch. I was chasing two little birds that kept landing close to us. Then we went to Pet Smart where they had cat adoption day. Those cats are so chill. They just lay there and let me sniff them without throwing a hissy-fit like Chip would. Lastly, we went to the dog park. Check out my new best friend, Rocky. He is a Yorki/Maltese mix and weighs just 1 1/2 pounds. That is what I weighed when I first came home. Even though he was little, he was mighty! None of the 25 pound big dogs scared him. We ran and tumbled and had so much fun together. For once I wasn't the littlest dog.

Are You My Mother?

OK, I'll concede that this Mama Cat is the hero of the day. She lives in a shelter in Phoenix and just had a litter of new kittens. The same day, a Chihuahua died while giving birth. The one hour old puppy would surely die if it did not get nourishment soon. The shelter workers put the puppy in with the Mama Cats litter and baby Chi just started nursing away. The other kittens did not seem to mind one bit since they all are the same size. The Mom is taking care of the Chihuahua just like it was her own. I wonder if the pup will take on cat characteristics when it grows up? All the animals will be up for adoption once the litter is weaned. I hope the Chi gets adopted along with her new Mommy.

Whoaa!

Linda was not too happy with the last place she took me to get groomed. The guy cut my hair way too short. He cut all my whiskers off. My nails were cut so short that one of them was bleeding a little when she picked me up. The last groomer left a little long hair around my face so I looked like a little lion. This guy just shaved it all off. I guess I should be thankful that Linda did not take me to the groomer who did this poodle! The human probably always wanted a pony, so they just turned their poodle into a pony. The long tail and mane is freaky! The saddle is also his real fur dyed orange. And look at his hoofs. (I'm not sure if it is hoofs or hooves.) It's just wrong. I hope that the little lasso and saddle trim are not stuck into his skin. Just looking at this photo makes me queasy.

The Best Place in Town to Take a Leak

Linda has a cousin named Russ. Russ lives in NJ and owns a car radiator repair/body shop. The heading of this post is actually on his sign. (Tier says it's a Mafia chop shop, but that is just not true.) When he was a teenager, he had a pet skunk named Daisy. Linda thought that was the weirdest pet ever, but Russ said Daisy acted (and probably smelled) just like a cat. Another skunk named Mr. Bumble was just taken away from his family when they could not handle him anymore. Mr. Bumble got too fat because he had an addiction to bacon sandwiches. A local animal park took the obese skunk and put him on a strict vegetarian diet and is making him take long walks. I wonder if they have room for fat Chip cat?

Gunning for Love

It's dangerous to be an adorable little dog. I'm so cute that Linda worries that I might get doggie-napped. Sometimes there are so many pooches at the dog park that she looses sight of me for a few seconds. I'm so small that someone could easily tuck me inside a jacket before she knew I was missing. She won't even let me out in the backyard alone just in case a hawk is looking for lunch. Another little Chihuahua named Diego was almost dog-napped at gun point. A family listed the little puppy in the paper for sale. A 26 year old women answered the ad and came to their house to buy the dog. While she was holding little Diego, she pulled a gun on the family and said she was stealing the $1,500 dog because she was lonely and needed some love. The Dad at the house, a security guard, grabbed the gun from the women. The brother, a police officer, restrained the women until the cops arrived. Diego was not harmed and is still for sale. This is not Diego, it is another little Chihuahua/Shih Tzu mix called a ShiChi. I want one.

Just 10 Shopping Days Left

My birthday is in 10 days, Hooray! I want to give you all plenty of time to shop, so here is my wish list:

1) I need a new winter coat in size small. My blue coat is lost and Linda can't find it anywhere. It has to have a little slit on top so my harness can slip through to attach to my leash. 2) Pigs ears to chew on. 3) Small squeaky toys. 4) Peanut butter flavored cookie bones. 5) A subscription to the new Dog Whisperer magazine. 6) Little Cesar dog food (sunrise flavors are my favorite) 7. A new carry-me bag. Mine is really yucky from all the trips to the dog park. 8) A Choopie carry basket for the front of Linda's bike (Petco).

I hope Linda makes my cake in this fun bone cake pan. She is looking up cake recipes that are healthy for dogs.

NOT!

One time when I was a bad dog and made a mess on the carpet Linda told me she was going to list me on ebay. "One adorable totally irresistible 5 pound Chorkie for sale. Loves to take long walks, play with squeaky toys, eat cat food and sleep on the big bed." She was just kidding of course, she loves me too much to list me on ebay. Not so for a a ten-year old little girl. She got fed up with all her Grandma's moaning so she listed the Granny on ebay. She described Granny as very cuddle, loves word searches, drinks tea, eats curry and moans a lot. The girl got 27 bids for Granny with the top bid of $3,500. ebay found took the listing down since they have a policy against selling human beings.
