If You Can't Run With The Big Dogs...

...Stay off the trail! Yep, I got to run with a big dog today during my trail walk. Jerry took me out in the woods while Linda was teaching. Half way though the adventure, a large lab dog came running down the trail off leash. His owner was running behind him, and she told Jerry that her dog was not dangerous. As soon as the dog ran past me, I took off at a gallop to run right behind him. Jerry could barely keep up I was going so fast! Then I met a poodle who wanted to play and some very frisky squirrels that kept teasing me to chase them. What a great morning. When Linda got home, she cut the grass. With all the rain, the grass was so long. She bagged 84 gallons of cut grass.

Friday is Fun Day

Tierney came over and sunned on our deck for a few hours. I had free run of the entire back yard while she read her book, it was fun to get some time to explore without Linda watching my every step. She usually calls me if I get out of her sight for even a second. I'm a big girl now, Linda should start trusting me a little more. Plus, I had another evening of big fun at Family Fun Night. Linda almost did not go since she was so tired and sore from 4 hours of classes today. She caught her second wind after a shower and a snack, so off we went. It was almost dark by the time we got there, so we could not do our normal woods trail walk. Instead we walked around the pond and along the little stream. All of Tierney's friends were playing football, so we watched that for a little while. Then we talked to Connie, Harold, Delois and Warren for a little while. We just got home and I had my chicken dinner and now it's time for bed. Life is good. Tomorrow, Jerry will be visiting while Linda is working. He is the best Daddy any dog ever had. I wonder what we will do?

I MEAN IT!

Linda is very grouchy. She has to miss church tonight to go to a MANDATORY meeting at work. Her supervisor said in an email that it was DEFINITELY MANDATORY and that SHE BETTER THINK LONG AND HARD BEFORE SHE MAKES THE DECISION if she plans on missing the meeting. Also, the boss said IT WAS IN HER BEST INTEREST to attend this meeting. (It's way better when Tier reads the email in her grown up serious voice.) Maybe she should wear these wonder sauna feel better wake-up your body pants.

Walk Me

It's National Dog Walking Week! I did my part by taking at least one long walk every day this week. We just got home from a chilly afternoon jog/walk. The fall weather is perfect for trail walks. It is estimated that at least 75% of dogs in shelters are there do to lack of exercise. Behavior issues such as aggression, destruction and separation anxiety issues are from dogs being cooped up or crated all day. Then when the owner gets home and sits on the couch to watch TV, the poor dog just lays there bored out of it's skull. Plus, not getting exercise and fatty foods leads dogs to develop medical issues like diabetes, heart disease and the number one killer of dogs.... cancer. Get out and walk Fido!

Hats Off!

This is a scary statistic. Did you know 1 in 3 dogs will get cancer in the lifetime. If we reach the age of 10, it's 1 in 2 dogs. I wonder if poor Snickers had cancer in his last days. He was in such pain and could not walk up and down steps at all. Licorice cat died from cancer and he was 10 years old. Chip cat is now 12 and is still going strong. Researchers have been working hard to find a way to get a heads-up on cancer in pets. There is a new blood test for dogs to detect cancer. It is almost 95% reliable and only costs about $100. From now on, Linda is going to get me tested at my yearly checkup. Hats Off to the Dr.'s!

PB

I found out that I like peanut butter. Linda gave me a little taste from her finger tip. It was yummy, but it made me make funny faces when I tried to swallow it. Did you know there are 850 peanuts in a 18 oz. jar of PB? That's just plain nutty. (Actually, they are not nuts, they are legumes cause they grow underground.) Here are some other uses for PB that you might not know. PB can get gum out of your hair and remove gum stuck on your clothes. If your lawn mower blades are stuck, PB is a great lubricant. Mice love PB, so if you need bait for a mouse trap, go with PB. Got gunk on your leather shoes or coat? PB is an awesome leather cleaner. Sometimes you just can't peel that price tag off that gift. Next time, just rub it with PB. This last one is Linda's personal favorite. Next time she runs out of shaving cream, she can use PB to shave her legs! What's for Dinner?

We have been extra careful locking our doors lately. The only thing that is of any value in our house is a little 5 pound Chorkie! We could not give our TV away for free, there are no expensive diamonds, furs, and definitely no cash. A home in South Carolina was broken into over the weekend. Thieves broke into a mobile home looking for loot. Right inside the front door was a beautiful new 42-inch flat screen TV. Did the crooks steal the awesome TV set? No. Did they take the jewelry? The bad guys pried open the front door and stole the following items: one box of Cap'n Crunch cereal, a package of sausages, a loaf of Sunbeam white bread, Country Crock spread, some Velveeta cheese and a roll of Pillsbury Grand biscuits. I don't know if this is funny or just plain sad because maybe they needed food for their kids.
