Happy Birthday to Us!

Both Linda and I have birthdays coming up this month. I want to get her a great present. I think I'll get Tierney to take me shopping. Since she loves seeing me happy, maybe I'll get her some new chew toys with squeakers inside. She loves throwing them down the hall so I can play fetch. I'll also get some new "cookies" that she can feed me when I am a good dog. I want Linda to have a great day since she is so great to me. Wonder what kind of present I'll get from her? Linda is going to make me a special birthday cake just for puppies. I'll invite some of my new poochie friends over to celebrate!

Lego the Zoo Animals!

Whoa! This story is so crazy it's almost unbelievable. A seven year old boy broke into a zoo in Australia and fed 13 live animals to a crocodile. He also smashed some to death against a rock. The 30 minute rampage was caught on video. The boy had a blank face and did not show any emotion during the attack. I am stunned and saddened that anyone could hurt animals, let alone a young 7 year old boy. How do you punish a kid that young for that kind of crime? Take his Nintendo away? Ground him? If I was judge I would make him clean the zoo poop (under supervision at all times) for the next 11 years, then put him in jail when he is 18.

Running Choo and Dancing Lupa

The Appalachian Cherokee Nation Pow-Wow is this weekend at our local park. There will be dancers and drummers all in full costume. Linda is looking forward to seeing all the jewelry and handmade baskets. Pets are welcome which means I get to go too! I get to meet my new friend Emma there. She is a terrier I became friends with at Barktoberfest. Linda will take lots of photos so I can post them.

Ha-Ha-Tee-Hee-Hardy-Har-Har

The other day while running around in the backyard I fell in the big hole and Linda laughed pretty hard at me. Well, today I got my payback. She was fixing the fence because there is a few broken slats that I can squeeze through. She stepped backwards and her foot fell in the deep hole! I was jumping on her barking while she sat on the grass!! Ha-Ha. That will teach her not to laugh at me. Oh, and Sal the Turtle is still in the corner. We are feeding it and have adopted it into our family. He did not scare me as much today as he did yesterday.

Families are like fudge - mostly sweet with a few nuts.

Sarah, Taylor, Linda and Tierney... my family. I love them so much. How in the world did I get chosen when there are so many dogs out there looking for homes? Linda looks on petfinders.com every day looking for a friend for me. She wants to adopt them all. Maybe we can buy a big farm out in the country and have lots of dogs. I'll still be numero uno favorite dog! Chip and Sal can come too.

Sal the Turtle

I had the snot scared out of me this morning. Here I am, not a care in the world, playing in the back yard while Linda watched from the deck. Lah-Di-Dah... running, jumping and just having fun being free. All of a sudden Linda sees me jump straight up in the air and head lickity-split back up the deck steps. She went out to investigate what scared me. Guess what it was! The big turtle who was living in the front yard is now in the back yard up against the fence! He was as scared as I was. His neck was stuck way inside his shell. Linda put more spinach and bread out for him to eat. I guess we need to name him since he has made himself at home. I named him Sal... short for Sal Monella. That is what Linda said I would get if I touched him. These two guys look like friends, maybe he will turn out to be my pal.

Wow, what a storm we had last night! The lightening and thunder was so intense, it frightened me. I'm glad I was safe and sound inside my house. I don't like getting wet even in the bathtub. Swimming scares me. I can't imagine what it would be like to be a stray stuck outside with no shelter during a storm like that. A poor golden retriever got lost in Atlanta and made his way to St. Petersburg, over 400 miles away. He was lost for 9 months. During a horrible storm, the dog made his way to a travel agency where he sat outside until an employee named Jay Getman let the dog inside. He took the dog to a vet who found a microchip and the retriever was able to be reunited with his family. What a happy ending! I have a microchip in case I ever get lost. Thanks goodness for modern technology.
